While Precision Strip’s engineering team was designing a new line at our Perrysburg location, we had an opportunity to enter the automotive “closure” panels market. Automotive closure parts include inner and outer blanks for hoods, trunk lids and doors.
Our engineering team quickly modified the design for this line to include an Airam press, which shuttles in and out of the line, along with a flying shear cut-off. The Airam allows us to produce blanks that are typical of hoods and deck lids where a chevron or sweep shape is required (see image).
We are currently blanking hood outers and inners for five different automotive platforms.
