On Sunday, December 23, 2012 we were deeply saddened to learn of the tragic accident that claimed the lives of our associate, Scott Barhorst, and his wife Michele. Their four children, Tyler (18), Logan (11), Hailie (9), and Tori (8), were also injured, and they continue their recovery.
Scott had a nine year history with Precision Strip. He started his career in 2003 at the Minster location. With the acquisition of our Perrysburg, OH operation in 2006, he transferred to that plant, which of course meant relocating his young family. Scott moved through the ranks at Perrysburg, and early in 2012 he was promoted to Supervisor. When we acquired a plant in Vonore, TN in 2012, Scott again elected to transfer to start up that plant. For the second time in his PS I career, Scott picked up his wife and four children and relocated. Scott was a dedicated and hardworking young man with a strong work ethic, deep family values, and a real pride in being part of Precision Strip.
To assist this family, we have established a trust fund to provide support for educational expenses for the four children. Contributions to this trust can be made in the form of a check payable to the Barhorst Children Educational Trust and mailed to:
