Edge Conditioning

Edge conditioning is appropriate for end products that require an absolute burr-free, or rounded, edge. This process is especially appropriate for food service applications and hose clamps. Edges that can be provided per the ASTM standards:

  • #3 as slit
  • #5 burr-free
  • #4 modified
  • #1 full round (skiving)

We can provide edges on both pancake coils and oscillate bundles. The #1 round edge can be provided on pancake to pancake coils, pancake to oscillate bundles, oscillate to oscillate bundles, or oscillate to pancake coils.

No.1 Round Edge is a prepared edge of a specified contour which is produced by skiving or removing the corners of the strip.

No.3 Edge is an approximately square edge produced by slitting on which the minimum burr is not removed.

No.4 (PSI) Modified Edge is an approximately square edge produced by slitting, then the edges are conditioned and rounded.

No.5 Edge is an approximately square edge produced by slitting on which the minimum burr is eliminated.
